Sizzling Chinese Pepper Steak with Onions

Ingredients:

  • 500 g beef steak (sliced thinly against the grain)
  • 1 large onion (sliced)
  • 1 green bell pepper (sliced)
  • 1 red bell pepper (optional)
  • 2–3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tsp ginger (optional, minced)
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 3 tbsp oil (for frying)
  • 100 ml beef broth or water
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Optional: pinch of chili flakes

Instructions:

  1. Mix sliced beef with soy sauce, cornstarch, and a little black pepper. Let it marinate for 15–20 minutes.
  2. Heat oil in a pan or wok until very hot. Sear the beef quickly until browned, then remove and set aside.
  3. In the same pan, add onion, garlic, and ginger. Stir-fry until fragrant.
  4. Add bell peppers and cook for a few minutes until slightly tender but still crisp.
  5. Return the beef to the pan. Add oyster sauce and a splash of broth.
  6. Stir everything together and cook until the sauce slightly thickens.
  7. Adjust seasoning and serve hot, ideally with rice or noodles.
