🇭🇺 Hungarian Goulash (One-Pot)

🧾 Ingredients:

  • 600 g beef (chuck or stewing beef, cubed)
  • 2 tbsp oil or lard
  • 2 large onions (chopped)
  • 2 tbsp Hungarian sweet paprika
  • 1 tsp caraway seeds (optional)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tomato (chopped) or 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 green pepper (chopped)
  • 2 carrots (sliced)
  • 2–3 potatoes (cubed)
  • 1–1.2 liters beef broth or water
  • Salt and black pepper (to taste)

👩‍🍳 Instructions:

  1. Sauté base:
    Heat oil or lard in a large pot. Add onions and cook slowly until soft and golden.
  2. Remove from heat and stir in paprika.

  1. Cook meat:
    Add beef and mix well with the onion-paprika base.
  2. Return to heat and cook until the meat releases juices.

  1. Build flavor:
    Add garlic, tomato, green pepper, and caraway seeds. Season with salt and pepper.

  1. Simmer:
    Pour in broth, cover, and cook on low heat for about 1–1.5 hours until meat starts to become tender.

Add vegetables:
Add carrots and potatoes, then continue cooking for another 20–30 minutes until everything is tender.
