🇭🇺 Hungarian Shortbread

🧾 Ingredients:

  • 300 g all-purpose flour
  • 200 g butter (softened)
  • 100 g powdered sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • Jam (apricot or raspberry works best)
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)

👩‍🍳 Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, cream together the butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Add the egg yolk and vanilla extract, and mix well.
  3. In another bowl, combine flour and salt, then gradually add to the butter mixture to form a soft dough.
  4. Divide the dough into two parts. Press one half into a greased baking pan.
  5. Spread a layer of jam evenly over the dough.
  6. Grate or crumble the remaining dough over the top.
  7. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 25–30 minutes until lightly golden.
  8. Let cool completely, then dust with powdered sugar and cut into squares.
