🇭🇺 Hungarian Lángos

🧾 Ingredients:

  • 500 g all-purpose flour
  • 250 ml milk (lukewarm)
  • 7 g dry yeast (or 20 g fresh yeast)
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • Oil for frying

Traditional toppings:

  • 2–3 cloves garlic (crushed)
  • 3–4 tbsp sour cream
  • 100 g grated cheese (like mozzarella or cheddar)
  • Salt (to taste)

👩‍🍳 Instructions:

  1. Activate yeast:
    Mix yeast with lukewarm milk and sugar. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Make the dough:
    In a bowl, combine flour and salt. Add yeast mixture and oil. Knead into a soft dough.
  3. Let it rise:
    Cover and let rise for about 1 hour, until doubled in size.

  1. Shape the lángos:
    Divide dough into equal portions (about 6–8 pieces).
  2. Flatten each piece with your hands into a round shape (slightly thinner in the center).

  1. Fry:
    Heat oil in a deep pan. Fry each piece for 1–2 minutes per side until golden and crispy.
  2. Remove and drain on paper towels.

  1. Add toppings:
    Rub warm lángos with garlic, spread sour cream, and sprinkle with cheese.
