  • 200 g dark chocolate
  • 250 g butter (softened)
  • 150 g powdered sugar
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

For the caramel top:

  • 150 g sugar
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 1 tbsp butter (optional)

👩‍🍳 Instructions:

Sponge layers:

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Beat eggs with sugar until light, fluffy, and doubled in volume.
  3. Gently fold in flour, salt, vanilla, and melted butter.
  4. Spread thin layers of batter (you should get 6–8 circles) onto baking paper.
  5. Bake each layer for 6–8 minutes until lightly golden. Cool completely.

Chocolate buttercream:

  1. Melt chocolate and let it cool slightly.
  2. Beat butter with powdered sugar until creamy.
  3. Add egg yolks, vanilla, and melted chocolate. Mix until smooth and fluffy.

Assembly:

  1. Spread buttercream between each sponge layer.
  2. Coat the top and sides with remaining cream.

Caramel top:

  1. Heat sugar and water in a pan until it turns golden caramel.
  2. Pour quickly over the top sponge layer and spread evenly.
  3. Before it hardens, score slices lightly with a knife (classic Dobos pattern).
