  • 6 eggs (separated)
  • 150 g sugar
  • 120 g all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch salt

For the chocolate buttercream:

  • 200 g butter (softened)
  • 150 g powdered sugar
  • 100 g dark chocolate (melted and cooled)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

For the caramel topping:

  • 150 g sugar
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice or water

  1. Prepare sponge batter:
    Beat egg yolks with half the sugar and vanilla until creamy.
  2. In another bowl, beat egg whites with salt, then gradually add remaining sugar and beat until stiff peaks form.
  3. Gently fold egg whites into yolk mixture, then fold in flour.

    Divide batter into 5–6 thin layers and bake each at 180°C (350°F) for 6–8 minutes until lightly golden. Let cool.

    Beat butter with powdered sugar until fluffy.
  2. Add melted chocolate and vanilla, mix until smooth.
