Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp lard or sunflower oil
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped

  • 1–2 tomatoes, peeled and chopped (or 1 tbsp tomato paste)
  • 2–3 Hungarian green peppers, chopped (or bell peppers)
  • 6 medium potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks
  • 1 tsp caraway seeds (optional, but traditional)
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 4–5 cups water or stock
