🇭🇺 Hungarian Walnut Torte

🧾 Ingredients:

For the cake:

  • 200 g ground walnuts
  • 150 g sugar
  • 5 eggs (separated)
  • 2 tbsp breadcrumbs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch of salt

For the filling:

  • 200 ml heavy cream
  • 100 g powdered sugar
  • 100 g butter (softened)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

For decoration:

  • Chopped walnuts

  • Powdered sugar

👩‍🍳 Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease and line a cake pan.
  2. Beat egg yolks with sugar and vanilla until pale and creamy. Stir in ground walnuts and breadcrumbs.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat egg whites with salt until stiff peaks form. Gently fold into the walnut mixture.
  4. Pour batter into the pan and bake for 30–35 minutes. Let cool completely.
  5. For the filling, whip the cream with powdered sugar until soft peaks form. In another bowl, beat butter with vanilla, then fold in the whipped cream.
  6. Slice the cake into layers. Spread the cream filling between layers and over the top.
  7. Decorate with chopped walnuts and dust with powdered sugar.
